Here’s a roundup of this morning’s must-read budget and economic stories:

On Tuesday the White House released a plan to reduce burdensome regulations. Investor’s Business Daily, Politico, USA Today, The Washington Post and The Washington Times look at what is in the proposal.

The Washington Times examines whether transparency in its deliberations could actually prevent the debt super-committee from reaching a compromise. Politico looks at pressures on super-committee members.

The Daily Beast reports China has debt problems of its own.

According to The New York Times and Reuters, Standard & Poor’s has downgraded Japan’s debt rating.

On the opinion pages: Robert Barro looks at whether stimulus helps improve economic growth while Ernest S. Christian and Gary A. Robbins examine whether a value-added tax is truly a substitute for a higher income tax.
