CloseHere’s a roundup of this morning’s must-read budget and economic stories:
Republican members of the House unveiled their fiscal year 2013 budget outline yesterday. Bloomberg, The Hill, Politico, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and The Washington Times (here too) have the details. According to The Hill, Republicans believe they have the votes to pass the budget in the House.
The New York Times says the House-passed JOBS Act has run into trouble in the Senate. (President Obama supports the legislation, as does his hometown paper The Chicago Tribune.)
The Hill says raising taxes on Americans earning more than $1 million a year will not go very far in bringing down deficits.
According to Roll Call, the House will take up a bill next week to cut small businesses’ taxes.
The Hill reports the House will take up a short-term transportation program reauthorization bill instead of the long-term version passed by the Senate.
