RobInSTL,

I am far from wealthy and I benefit from the Bush tax cuts.

The difference between those and the "stimulus" is that the tax cuts let people keep more of their own money. The "stimulus" is money doled out by the government to those it wants to receive it.

That's why tax cuts are better.

Look, I really don't want to make any of you feel foolish. But If I were to ask you who you thought the real enemies are of this place we call "America". Which errantley and all to often mis-defined as a "Democracy" which hasn't been the case since the real financial collapse of "America" occured in the late 1800"s. Every thing the early "Americans" with thier determination to cause and create a "Better Nation" was lost, taken away. And now all thier work and sacrafice has been erased. read some of thier works, thier intentions. They certainly were'nt perfect e.g treatment of indigionus tribes, slavery, elitism etc. We actually live in a "Pluralistic Corporate Oligarchy" That have over the last two centuries turned global. So who is the enemy of our percieved freedom? Who, more than any other influence controls our national and global destinies? Who are the only tangible real history causing entities that truly rule your life and your childrens life? Look at real history, not the engineered version, were all taught in schools yes even our higest level schools. Sit and ponder for only a moment and you might figure out that it is really way beyound silly partisan politics and story book religion! Wow! what we could have been and what we might still be if and only if we become causes, participating causes in our destinies! But we won't we'll just sit back ,turn on the tv, drive to work and listen to our wonderfully "Democratic" voice of the people on our well engineered air waves! Yee ha America! what the founding fathers might say!

Makes you think or at least want to vomit. Absolutely disgusting waste of money that hasn't stimulated the economy or saved jobs. The time for a second American Revolution is fast approaching, with us replacing our current system of government with one that actually is fiscally responsible. We have to stop spending money we don't have for things that we don't need. How many hospitals could we have built with 862 billion dollars? Or replaced the crumbling roads and bridges we drive on daily? Maybe some new nuclear power plants and other alternative energy sources so we'll stop being dependent on foreign oil? We will continue to get the government we deserve if we continue to reelect these crooks and let them continue bribing us with our own money.

I sure would like to see term limits on these guys. Too many of them are "lifers", and are in it for the money instead of being committed to improving our country. If they had a limited timeframe to leave their mark, perhaps they might give it more effort. Instead, it seems like they are milking it.

While I agree with every thing I read on this website. Believe that the biggest problem we have in this country started when we set out to take GOD out of our government and our country.

FACT: The Bush tax cuts are coming up for expiration. The GOP wants it passed because they represent wealthy people. The Tea Party people - the ones against spending - also want it passed. It's cost - at least 700 billion dollars. If Obama let's it lapse his deficit spending will be under Bush's. Difference is this is money going to wealthy people and both the GOP and Tea Party support it.

FACT: If the stimulus spending didn't work then neither have the Bush Tax Cuts. The BTC's were going to get all these wealthy people spending (didn't happen) and was going to create more jobs than the Lord himself could (didn't happen). In fact the wealthy were so happy we had Enron, the stock market crash, corruption in every corporate corner of America and millions of people's retirements disappeared. Guess who got the money - yep, the wealthy CEO's of the companies. So let's EXPIRE the Bush tax cuts, which will in turn lower Obama's deficit spending WAY below Bush's and then both the GOP and the Tea Party and sites like this can go bite me in the backside.

David... my friend I have not read as eloquent and well presented opinion such as yours in a while thank you. We need more people to read and look at history just like you have, so that everyone can understand that increasing taxes on large corporations such as FOX will benefit the lower to median income families without hurting the very wealthiest its simple. hurray!!

The question of "How much is being done to stimulate the economy" seems to be incorrect or incomplete at a minimum. The REAL question that needs to be addressed is whether it is "correct" actions being taken or not... I won't dignify THAT polling question with a click.
