Back to School

We all remember the feeling. The night before a big assignment is due and you haven’t even started yet. Making things even more difficult, it seems like the less time you have to do it, the harder it is to get yourself to start. But for the most part, if you don’t finish your homework, you’re only hurting yourself.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the case when it comes to Congress’s major budgeting and spending responsibilities. The completion of these determines how much the United States spends over the next fiscal year. In the midst of appropriations season, with one big deadline already missed – passing a budget by April 15th – we take a look at what Congress has left on its to-do list.

It’s time for another New Deal where we put money into putting people to work rebuilding the crumbling infrastructure. In recession you cannot stop or cut spending totally. The economy has to be boosted so people get jobs. The problem is the large corporations are milking this for all its worth and making record profits without hiring people and opening new jobs. We need to go back to the old days! As far as I’m concerned, Congress needs to be cleared out and restarted with people who aren’t puppets in the pockets of multi-national corporations.

Well, this is a good idea, however, what is really needed is good leadership, which we do not have. I think the first thing that should be down is to Stop spending money we do not have; and that means we have to look at the Budgets and decide as a People to what direction we want our Great Country to continue. Your idea has already been legislated and funded. However, it did not do the job, so spending more money on the same idea is nonsense. Yes, I do agree that our Country’s infrastructure needs improvement, but now is not the time. Our Country has to go on a Strict Diet, no more spending money we do not have. We must stay within a Budget and make cuts to reduce our Debt. The reason is obvious to anyone knowing the Truth, our Country is on the preipus of Bankruptcy. I do have hope, though, We the American People know what must be done; I am sorry to say that you do not.

    Congressional Reform Act of 2011

    1. Term Limits. 12 years only, one of the possible options below..
    A. Two Six-year Senate terms B. Six Two-year House terms
    C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House Terms

    2. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

    3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

    4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

    5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

    6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

    7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
    8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

What about working americans doesn’t our congress, senate and president understand??Not only did they never study U.S. history, world history or math, but economics as well?? Ithink they all majored in bankruptcy and socialism and graduated with honors. Perhaps if these brilliant leaders took less vacations, they would understand so mething about work, budgets, taxes and economics as most highschool graduates.Did these people really attend college or were they all educated in third world countries??

Every conversation I have with my husband ends the same way; where he says that the answers to our Country’s problems lay with the People. In our Constitution it starts with the Declaration of Independance; where it says, We the People, so, my husband is Right. We the People of these United States have to standup and be of a one mind united and moral. If we want to remain a Free and Proud People, then we must reduce our Debts to Countries who do not admire our same principals. We must Stop spending money we do not have and live within our means. This is the only Moral thing to do. This starts at the Top with our President and Congress. Without this Moral Leadership our Country will not continue to be Free and We the People will be slaves to those who do not share our principals.
