Public Pulse: Are you enthusiastic about the way the government works?
According to Pew, 74% of adults believe the budget deficit is a major problem that must be addressed right now. Only 22% think it is a major problem, but can wait until the economy gets stronger to address. ABC/Washington Post asked a similar question and found 64% of adults think action should be taken now to reduce the budget deficit. Only 33% said actions should be taken only after the economy improves.
According to National Journal, 62% of adults agree that, if left to itself, the free market creates more opportunities than problems. 32% said the free market created more problems than opportunities.
According to CBS, 45% of adults think cutting the budget deficit will create jobs; 22% think it will reduce jobs; and 17% think it won’t make any difference.
According to ABC/Washington Post, 51% of adults support increasing the debt limit and 44% oppose.
According to ABC/Washington Post, only 3% of adults are “enthusiastic” about the way the government works – up from 2% early last June. 27% are “satisfied” with the way government works, down from 28% at this time last year. 44% are “dissatisfied,” down from 45% one year ago. 25% are “angry” – the same as at this time last year.
