PUBLIC PULSE: DO YOU SUPPORT THE PAYROLL TAX CUT?

Public Pulse | February 7, 2012

Congress is still debating whether to extend the 2011 payroll tax cut for a full year. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) recently said he would consider raising other taxes to “pay for” the extension.

The Hill recently reported that most lawmakers are opposed to military base closures.

Roll Call says the U.S. Senate is exploring a permanent ban on earmarks even though, according to Politico, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has defended the earmark process.

On Wednesday the U.S. House voted to freeze pay for federal workers.

No more stimulous and no more taxes slipped in to bills passed. The 1% tax on anyone purchasing a home for $200,000 or more will pay that tax for ten years and was put in the payroll tax bill. So much for caring for the middleclass.

Got to get the money out of politics, need to streghten the middle class(ir there is still one)raise taxes on millionaires and billionairesto 39%,need to get a budget for the department of defense(stop all the wars)use that money to pay 50% on defecit and 25% on stimulus for unemployementand 25% to housing refinancing.First of all need to terminate BUSH tax cuts immeadiatly.Need to get stimulus package for infrascuture rebuilding on roads and bridges from tax cuts. Also stop the programs that keeps giving oil companies incentives and need to queit giving farmers subsiduties. Need to help companies with financing for those that make renewable energy.Need to speed up the benefits from the affordable care act. Let’s become AMERICA again by MADE IN USA stamped on everything. We the people, for the people, by the people.

  3. Closing military bases around the world for me is the easiest of the questions to answer. I have not read or heard accounts of any military officer or politician explaining why having bases and troops in South Korea, Germany, Japan or countless other counties makes the US more secure. Given the military might of this nation, what country in their right mind would attack the US?
I believe in blowback, that our presence in other countries, the middle east in particular, is the root cause for much of the political unrest.
Close the bases, bring the troops home, reduce the deficit.

  4. Paul LeBeau says:

Obama is making a big mistake if he doesn’t at least extend it through this year, if he doesn’t it will bankrupt many small business owners.
