WISCONSIN CHOOSES FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY OVER BUSINESS AS USUAL
Arlington, VA—Gretchen Hamel, executive director of Public Notice, issued the following statement regarding the results of yesterday’s recall election in Wisconsin:
Yesterday, Wisconsin voters had a choice between the big-spending, business-as-usual approach to governing that favors special interests or a fiscally responsible path that requires tough decisions and smart budgeting to spur growth. They chose fiscal responsibility.
National polling affirms that debt and spending are top of mind issues for Americans, and yesterday’s CBO report that our public debt will reach 109 percent of GDP in 14 years given Washington’s current spending habits only increases the urgency. Americans get it—Washington doesn’t.
