Our best parody video yet: Wait and See

November 17, 2010

Good news! Profits are back, cash flow is good, and Steve’s dance moves are better than ever?! But before Frank, his girlfriend Karen and the rest of the gang can expand, hire and invest at their small business, they’ll have to convince the Boss Lady.

See what’s stopping the quirky employees of this small biz from living a real American dream.

This video is a joke. Its message is not. Washington’s rhetoric and policies have been creating a damaging environment of uncertainty for businesses. When businesses lack clarity, they can’t plan ahead — choking expansion, investment and job creation.

This is silly. On the brink of economic disaster as Bush left office our economy has managed to hang on only because the government sector was spending. Good thing to remember when you start wars you can’t finish and let the financial sector pick our pockets.

  3. Clearbrook says:

Riiiight John, and the “Santa Clause” of giving everyone a magic gift of “free money” is going to make *this* Christmas soooo much better than the final (Democrat controlled Congress) years under Bush.

That tired argument has finally lost its traction with most of America, but some people will keep repeating it…

    ;’{P~~~

  5. Very funny stuff. Good work.

The issue is actually very simple, and a matter of the most basic economics, which is really just the science of human choice in a world of uncertainty (per von Mises). People will risk uncertain outcomes in the hope of gaining rewards commensurate with the risk if the rules of the game are knowable and fixed, i.e., if they can control at least some of the uncertainty.

For instance, I will play Texas Hold-’Em even though I can’t know what my opponents have. If two Aces are on the Board and I have an Ace-Queen in the hole, I can get beat if my opponent has an Ace-King in the hole under the rules of the game, and I know that, but I will still be willing to bet, because I have a good hand. But if my opponent (call him “Government Man”) has Seven-Deuce in the hole, but can redefine the rules midstream and say that sevens and deuces are wild, so he actually has four aces… well, then, knowing that he has the power to change the rules, I am going to be unwilling to bet. In fact, I might just take my money and go home.

Which is exactly what is happening right now with investors. The government reserve the right to change the rules of the game next year on taxes, health care benefits, and the environment. So why should an entrepreneur want to play the game?

  7. Randall says:

To bad the economy isn’t going to get better. It was destroyed for a freaking New World Order agenda to take the place of the old America. Next on their god damn agenda is to kill off a bunch of us, about 5 billion. Prepare for martial law and total anarchy. You under stand?

  9. Jennie Walsh says:

When the wicked (murderers, war-mongers, liars, thieves, market and money manipulators, abortionists, extortionists, communists, socialists, fascists, liberals, Satanists etc.) rule, the people mourn. America is under severe attack by the Kingdom of Satan and all the servants of Satan who are holding high offices everywhere throughout America and the world. They have certain and determined intent to destroy America and enslave all Americans who are not a member of the Kingdom of Satan. Pray for all the evil works of the Satanists to be returned back upon them as their judgment to their own destruction. Pray that you will be able to recognize all the deceivers.

  11. Harry Ried says:

Not until we murderers, war-mongers, liars, thieves, market and money manipulators, abortionists, extortionists, media-manipulators, socialists, fascists, liberals, Satanists, Demorats, and Douche-bags et. al. are removed from any source of power, America will continue to suffer!

On the other hand, once we are able to double the cost of public utilities, legalize +/- 15 million illegal and illiterate aliens, double the cost of health care for everyone who is not in an elected office and only tax those who are actually considered to be economically “productive,” our economic outlook is certain to improve! 2012 can’t come fast enough!
